A small shop for the garden
We started on a rooftop plot in Seoul with a bent trowel and a stubborn belief that garden tools should be beautiful, forged to last, and a genuine pleasure to hold at the start of a long morning in the soil.
Our story
Fern & Furrow began at a market stall in Seongsu-dong in the spring of 2021. We had a handful of forged hand tools from a small smithy outside Seoul, a folding table, and no real plan beyond sharing things we genuinely loved to use in our own beds. By the end of that first weekend the table was empty, and we realised other gardeners were looking for the same thing we were — tools made slowly, by people who cared.
Everything we carry is chosen the same way today. We work directly with a small circle of makers — a blacksmith outside Seoul, a terracotta workshop in the south, a canvas maker who still sews by hand — and we use everything in our own garden before it reaches the shelf. If it wouldn't survive a few hard seasons in the soil, it doesn't make the cut.
We believe in buying less and choosing well. A single forged trowel you sharpen every spring is worth more than a shed full of tools that rust and bend. That is the quiet idea behind the whole collection, and it's the invitation we extend to you: build a garden slowly, one honest tool and one good season at a time.
